For the first time in their history, according to Richard Fleming, the Rapids were held without a shot on goal in a home game. That's a fair summary of the game overall. The Rapids struggled to control the match in the first half. Then Jack Price went down with a hamstring injury just before halftime and Colorado had no control after that. A scoreless draw was the result, a disappointing score line against a team in its 10th game ever.
Random Musings:
- The Rapids continued their normal play against expansion teams. 7 of the last 10 expansion teams have taken points off Colorado in their expansion year now, and 2 of the remaining 3 we didn't play. Cincinnati is the only one of the last 10 expansion teams we got the full 3 points from.
- Wilson and Moor were injured and didn't make the 18, Esteves had a knock so started the game on the bench. Despite that the defense still looked solid.
- Vallecilla looked good in his first start. He had one distribution mistake that Abubakar cleaned up but otherwise he was solid in defense. His passing could use a bit of work.
- Losing Captain Jack changed the game. Before that Colorado was at least on the front foot, even if they couldn't get synced up. After Price was subbed it was pretty much all Charlotte.
- No news yet on how bad his injury is, but it wasn't a good sign that he couldn't make it to half just a few minutes away and save one of our sub windows.
- The choice to put Warner in was a bit of a surprise. It made us more defensive at a time we needed to work on our attack. I hope that's not the long term plan to replace Price.
- Even with Price in, the team couldn't string passes together to get near goal. Our offense is still in neutral.
- It was good to see Zardes get time so quickly after arrival. Sadly we couldn't give him any service to take advantage of.
- In stadium news, looks like they've added some food options but still not up to the level of other stadiums. Still green chile nachos, salads, and shrimp po'boys are a start. I'm still going to stick with the tailgate though.
- Next up is a Portland team that is also struggling. Its not a "must win" but some real questions will be asked if we can't get 3 points in this one.
Man of the Match: William Yarbrough. Earned us a point with some big saves, and was named to the MLS Team of the Week for it.

Who are possible replacements for Price if he is out for a while? With Kellyn Acosta gone, the midfield lost some serious bite. Now with Price out... Fraser likes Warner so that move doesn't surprise, unfortunately I don't think it works. How is Mayaka doing? He was supposed to be the most MLS ready player coming out of the draft last year but was stuck behind Price and K. Acosta. He has yet to make his MLS debut. Bryan Acosta hasn't gotten many looks, Kaye has been subpar this year. I thought Larraz might get some legitimate looks this year, but unfortunately he got hurt. I'm concerned about the midfield.
