I can't speak much to the game, being in the middle of the workday I could only track the score and see highlights later. In general though Fraser brought them out in a formation designed to conserve energy and minimize chances as with another game in 48 hours he didn't want to wear the team out. This left us relying on our attackers to make the most of their few chances...and they didn't. Combined with some questionable defending at times it was a recipe for the Rapids finding yet another embarrassing way to blow a USOC match.
It will now be at least 17 years since the Rapids have beaten a MLS side in the Open Cup. They have lost their last 7 Open Cup games on the road. Its also been 5+ years since we've won a knockout game/series (the last time we did was beating the Oklahoma City Energy in the 4th round of the 2017 USOC). In short when the chips are down, we fold.
Next up, in 48 hours (almost to the minute from the end of the game today) top of the table LAFC. At least it's at home?
