When was the last time we could claim that a Rapids game was a battle of top teams? With Colorado in 4th on PPG and the Galaxy in 3rd, just .01 PPG ahead, you can claim it tomorrow night. As mentioned yesterday the team flew straight to Southern California so they've gotten their jet lag out of them already. Kickoff tomorrow is at 8:30pm wherever you can find it on TV.
Injury Report:
OUT: M Younes Namli
Disciplinary Report:
ONE CAUTION FROM SUSPENSION: F Diego Rubio
TWO CAUTIONS FROM SUSPENSION: M Jack Price
As mentioned yesterday Rubio and Price flip-flopped positions on the Disciplinary Report. Acosta is not officially listed but I'm willing to bet that if he hadn't been cleared from his positive COVID test on Saturday he won't be cleared 3 days later. Hopefully we'll have him back for the RMC match on Saturday. He can use the rest after his big Gold Cup.
I'm guessing one of our three primary center backs will get some rest tomorrow, I picked Wilson as the oldest and the one coming back from injury but it could be any of the three. Likewise I expect rotation in midfield with Kaye getting the rest, but it could be Price. Rubio's return from injury on Saturday has me thinking he'll get a break as to not overdue it and be ready for Saturday.
Prediction: 1-1 draw, goal by Barrios. The Galaxy have a slightly better offense but a much worse defense than us. Both teams are facing big rivalry games this weekend and will likely be rotating players. I think neither side is going to want to overextend themselves midweek and will play conservatively, eventually settling for splitting the points.
