The Commerce City To Colorado Springs Shuttle Gets Its First Real Workout

One of the lesser talked about changes this past offseason was the Rapids switching their USL affiliation from the Charlotte Independence to the Colorado Springs Switchbacks.  One of the benefits to the switch was to make it easier to move players back and forth on loan.  Today we saw the first example of that as three players hopped on the shuttle between the teams.

First forward Matt Hundley and goalkeeper Andre Rawls took the shuttle down to the Springs on loan.  No surprise with either of these moves, the third goalkeeper was always going to end up down there and Hundley is likely to get more playing time with the Switchbacks than the Rapids.  Sam Raben then hopped the shuttle back up to Commerce City as he's been recalled for this week's game.  Given our injury issues in the back line and not with Sjoberg suspended for the game I'm sure they want him in for added depth in Seattle.  I would expect him to return to the Switchbacks next week.

There will be fourth player added at some point under the terms of the agreement.   My guess would be Niki Jackson or the upcoming homegrown signing that GM Padraig Smith hinted at during the kickoff party Friday night.
