Rapids Look To Bounce Back On The Fourth

Zion Canyon NP, the parks being the one highlight in Utah

After their meltdown in New England the home side is hoping to get refocused against a KC side that is struggling this season.  They are averaging just one point a game and are giving up nearly 2 goals a game on defense.  Their attack has been more successful than ours though.  With this being the annual Independence Day game expect a large crowd.  To celebrate Centennial 38 is getting an early start to the tailgate at 3:30pm.  Kickoff is at 7:30.

Availability Report:

OUT: GK Zack Steffen (knee), D Reggie Cannon (yellow card accumulation), D Sam Vines (groin)

Awaziem and Cabral are both one yellow from suspension.  Vines picking up a groin injury was unexpected but otherwise that's about as good as we could hope for.

No, I didn't forget Bassett.  Coming off an injury and with the success of Ted KDP and Harris in recent weeks I suspect Armas is going to bring him off the bench for this one.  He'll move back to the 4-2-3-1 to put Mihailovic in but otherwise he won't want to change much.  With the rescheduled LAFC on Wednesday it also gives Bassett some rest now and the ability to start in that game.

Prediction: 2-1 win, goals by Mihailovic and Navarro.  This is the last easy game, and really the last game they'll be favored to win, this month.  I expect they take advantage of that and pull off the three points against a struggling SKC.

As always I will not be present to see it as for the 28th straight year I have a better offer, celebrating my 27th wedding anniversary.  I'll watch the game Saturday morning instead.
