OK, so no play-by-play as I said I might, but the Galaxy blog Sideline Views did a nice one that you can review. The Rapids were lucky not to go down 2-3 in the first half as the post saved Burpo on his Rapids debut 3 times. The second half was more balanced and as the half wore on the fitness of the Rapids took over. Finally in the 82nd minute Casey broke through and got a goal off a Cookie cross.
I think our experience helped as well, the only player in the starting 11 without game experience this season was Preston Burpo, who was just acquired. That allowed us to mentally stay i nthe game when LA tired.
We now face KC on the road next Wednesday at 6pm MDT. No word on what kind of coverage will be available. The winner of that match will enter the USOC proper.
