First move of the day is made.
Colorado sends Targeted Allocation Money to LA for the #12 overall pick. Interesting move, I wonder who we have our eye on.
The Rapids have just traded the #2 pick to Philly for allocation money. That's a waste given our track record.
Another trade: We send the #12 pick in the 1st round, the #2 pick in the second round, and the #2 spot in the allocation ranking to Chicago. In exchange we get the #15 pick in the first round, the #13 pick in the second round, and the #1 spot in the allocation order.
Unrelated but in the Philly trade for the #2 pick we also got a player to be named later.
This sets us up with allocation money and the top spot. Heavy rumor is that it could be Bedoya which would be a big get.
With the #15 pick the Rapids selected Emmanuel Appiah, a defensive midfielder out of Cincinnati.
Born in Ghana, so he'll probably require an international spot. Can't say I'm loving this pick, the last thing we needed was an international d-mid.
Update: Appiah grew up in Ohio so he;s probably a citizen or green card holder and if so would not require an international slot.
Rapids trade the #13 pick in the 2nd round to Dallas for the #17 pick in the 2nd round and the #17 pick in the 3rd round.
With the #17 pick in the 2nd round the Rapids (finally) take Dennis Castillo, a defender out of VCU.
Castillo is a wing back that can apparently also play centrally.
